In exploring the meaning of time, we consider human civilisation and lifestyle, but also our understanding of life. In ancient times, man and nature co-existed, as humans followed the seasons, rainfall, and sunlight to grow the produce we needed to survive. Since the Industrial Revolution, our pace has accelerated, and we began to see time as something that can be manipulated or changed. We long ago monetised time by dividing it into ever-smaller fragments to be incorporated in profit-loss calculations.
